There are essentially two tendencies or desires within every human soul: a desire to separate from the whole and a desire to reunify with the whole. These two tendencies are the result of the involution and evolution of the universe. We desire to separate from the whole because we wish to create an individuality that is separate and distinct. And we wish to reunify with the whole because this is the purpose for which we were created. God created human beings in order to express and share his Love with others in a Kingdom of spiritual Harmony.

Therefore, the tendency to separate originates from our self-awareness. We are aware that we have a separate identity from God and others.

And the tendency to reunify with God and others stems from the Love that resides within our own soul. We wish to reconnect with our source through Love.

And so, since these two tendencies are opposites, within every human being there is always a struggle to balance these two human desires.

We know very well that human beings tend to excess in one or the other of these tendencies. For example, those who wish to separate tend to be judgmental, reserved, selfish and even cruel. Those who wish to reunify tend to be overly tolerant, irresponsible and immoral.

Now, although these two tendencies seem to oppose each other, they can ultimately be harmonized. We must balance these two tendencies within our own being in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. In the Kingdom, we are in harmony with others and God and yet we retain a distinct and separate identity.

In fact, the reason we exist in the material world is so that we can freely create a distnct individuality as well as to learn to live with others and be of use to them. And since Love is spiritual freedom, on the earth, we have the freedom to return God's Love or reject it.

The end or purpose of the universe was created from the very beginning. God has reserved a distinct and unique place for us in the Kingdom of Harmony. As we learn, practice and realize Love and Wisdom, we are constructing a spiritual body from the real substance of Love and Truth. This eternal body can subsist in the Kingdom of Heaven, Harmony or Reality.
