THE PURPOSE OF THE UNIVERSE

THE PURPOSE OF THE UNIVERSE IS GOOD

When we notice some of the chaotic human events that are taking place in the world, it is difficult to believe that the universe has a purpose, let alone a good purpose.

And yet, we cannot either ignore the beauty that surrounds us. When we contemplate a sunset on a secluded beach or the innocence in a child's face, we are reassured that there is mystery that is beyond us.

Why are we here? If we, mortal beings, are always driven by some purpose whenever we do anything, then God, who is infinitely wise, must have an eternal purpose in creating the universe.

And, since God is omnipotent and has no needs, his purpose must be good.

THE PURPOSE OF THE UNIVERSE IS ETERNAL

In the Bible, we are told that God is ONE and yet we sense diversity, multiplicity and complexity all around us.

We must remember that our natural senses only experience the lowest dimenions of the universe and most of us are unable to experience its higher dimensions.

To use an analogy, if we were to only experience the lower dimensions of our body, we would see trillions of cells rushing about and doing their respective work. And yet, we know that our healthy body is a unified organization.

Similarly, the universe is a unified organization that appears to be diversified on our level. The higher levels of the universe are not material; they are spiritual. And the upper levels of the universe, in the Holy Scriptures, are called the Heavens. In Psalm 19, we read: "The Heavens declare the Glory of God and the firmament showeth his handiwork..."

The universe is the body of God. The higher dimensions of the universe or the Heavens are the mind of God. And, in the Bible, it says that man was created in the image and likeness of God.

If we could raise our consciousness to the higher levels of the universe or the Heavens, we would discover the purpose of the universe and our own individual purpose, which God intended for us in His Divine Plan.

When we see the whole physical universe with its hundreds of billions of galaxies, we are seeing the lower-dimensional cross-section of a unified Being. That ONE being is the Universal or Divine Man.

The substance of this Divine Being is Divine Love and its form or organization is Divine Wisdom. God's eternal Life is Divine Love. And God realizes His Life or Purpose by creating beings to Love. This purpose is realized through Wisdom or uses. Every being in the universe has been assigned a particular purpose that contributes to the Divine Plan. It is just like the cells in a healthy human body. Every single cell performs a useful function.

By simply acting as a human being and desiring what is creative, useful, Good and Wise for ourselves and others, we realize God's Purpose.

THE PURPOSE OF THE UNIVERSE IS DIVINE LOVE

The question then arises: "If the purpose of the universe is Divine Love, why is there so much hatred, violence, poverty and sickness in the world?"

And the answer is that Divine Love is freedom itself. Real Love can only be realized freely and willingly.

Ask yourself this question:"Can any one really force you to love them?"

If they could, it would not be love! It would be fear or some other emotion but it would not be real love!

Human beings fall in love freely, get married and have children. Why do they do it? They are fulfilling God's purpose on a lower level.

It is impossible to love yourself. Those who do are in darkness or illusion. In order to realize real or Divine Love, God has to go to all the trouble of creating this complex universe. In the same way, human beings go through the trouble of creating families to realize real love. They need someone else to love besides themselves.

Now, we know that the love of our spouse and children is not completely fulfilling. There comes a moment in the journey of our soul when we desire to realize Divine Love itself. This is our real purpose.

Our real purpose is to transform our soul so that we are reunited with God in the mystery of Divine Love. When this mystery is fulfilled, we are in our Heavenly Father and our Father or Divine Goodness is in us. Those human beings who realize their purpose through Love and Wisdom, enter the Kingdom of the Heaven and become part of a society of angels. Angels live in the spiritual worlds of Heaven and also contribute to the Divine Purpose by being creative, useful and loving. Through this eternal purpose, Divine Love expands eternally and infinitely. And there is always room for more angels because Heaven is infinite.

All the trials that we experience on Earth exist for this purpose. We exist to manifest the Glory of God or Heaven on Earth.

Do you really think that our Heavenly Father wants us to suffer, be ill or  be poor? If our mortal father wants what is good for our life  then our Heavenly Father, who is infinitely good, should only want what is good for our eternal soul. Whether it is through suffering or joy, the Lord is always guiding our soul to Heaven.

Why do we have to suffer then? Suffering is a way for the universe to tell us that we are straying from our true purpose. When we are selfish, greedy, lustful, cruel or lazy, we ultimately suffer. This wakes us up and we ask ourselves:" What am I doing to deserve this?" But some of us do not want to take responsibility for our own life and we continue to blame the universe and others for our misery. These human beings are still in spiritual darkness or ignorance. You have to be really stupid to keep hitting your finger with a hammer hoping that something will change. If we are suffering, we must ask, seek and knock, and then we must change our loves and beliefs so that we are more aligned with the purpose of the universe.
