There are many kinds of atmospheres---some which are heavenly, some earthly, and some infernal. There are poisonous atmospheres, in which no one can think what is true and  good, but what only conduces to some selfish indulgence or acquisition. There are moral atmospheres, in which everyone thinks naturally what is becoming, orderly and useful. There are spiritual atmospheres, in which it is easy to think what is from the Lord, and spiritually good and right. To climb into heavenly atmospheres is to think from heavenly order and heavenly truth, to perceive what heaven is, and to look upon all things from an interior heavenly state. (John Worcester, 1875)

Your body is in the physical world. But your soul is in the spiritual world.

Where you are in the physical world is not as important as where you are in the spiritual world.

You could be in the most beautiful place on Earth but, if your soul is in a poisonous atmosphere, your surroundings would mean nothing to you.

In the physical world, your body can move from one place to another. In the spiritual world, your mind can move from one state to another.You can rise into the Heavens of intelligence, peace, meaning and purpose by changing your attitudes, intentions, habits and beliefs.

In the physical world, if you do not choose to move, you remain in the same place.

In the spiritual world, if you do not change your mind, you also remain in the same state.

If it seems to you that the universe is a confusing, meaningless and purposeless place, it is not because it is so. It is because your soul has wandered into a dark and  poisonous atmosphere.

Although it is difficult to believe by appearances, everything is well in the universe and the Divine Plan continues to be realized.

If you wish to verify this Truth, you must elevate your mind into Heavenly atmospheres. 

It is normal to be in a sad and depressed state of mind from time to time. Even angels have changes of state. However, we must use our memory to remember times when the universe seemed more beautiful and meaningful. By continuing to believe what is True and to will what is Good, our soul is continually steered back to the Heavenly spheres.

This continual fluctuation between spheres of Light and darkness helps us understand the difference between Truth and falsehood, as well as Good and evil.

Truth is always meaningful, beautiful and purposeful while falsehood is always ugly, senseless and pointless.

Good is always useful, merciful and meek while evil is always wasteful, cruel and arrogant.
